February in Betsukai — I walked out onto the completely frozen surface of Notsuke Lake and the silence was absolutely surreal. The ice stretched endlessly in every direction, and the clear winter air made everything feel impossibly clean. This is what frozen Hokkaido looks like, and it's magic.
