Spring 2022 in Yamagata — stumbled upon these striking stone figures and rusted anchors dotting the Yura coastline. The statues gazing out toward the ocean had this haunting, poetic energy that stopped me in my tracks. Felt like stepping into a piece of local history most travellers never see!
