Wakkanai City Sign, Hokkaido's Northern Edge

October in Hokkaido, and I'd made it all the way to Wakkanai — Japan's northernmost city. That iconic sign with the volcano and the bamboo caught me off guard; such a charming little marker for a place so far north! The autumn light was perfect, and standing here felt like reaching the edge of the country.
