Kingfisher at Yoshidajima, Kaisei, Kanagawa

Spotted this brilliant kingfisher at Yoshidajima in January — that electric blue head and russet belly are unmistakable! Perched right above the water on a tangle of branches, just waiting for the perfect moment to dive. Nature in the Kanto region never ceases to amaze me.
