Golden Lion Statue at Nikkō Tōshō-gū Shrine, Tochigi

Wandered into the ornate halls of Nikkō Tōshō-gū in spring 2017, and this gilded lion with its striking cobalt mane completely stopped me in my tracks. The craftsmanship and detail are just incredible — a real testament to the grandeur of this UNESCO World Heritage shrine. That blue against the gold is pure magic!
